A career in tech is exciting as no two days are the same, you have opportunities to grow and learn and problem solve.
The UK workforce is currently around 50% women and 50% men, yet in tech the number of roles filled by women is less than 24%. According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS), the first half of 2023 saw a decline of 3,000 women in the tech industry despite the industry growing!
Having a diverse workforce leads to greater staff retention and increased innovation so how can we help people pivot, return or restart into tech roles? BCS Women want to address the skills shortage by bringing together organisations, recruiters, bootcamp trainers and people who have gone through short programmes and found roles in tech so people can discuss how they can access a career in tech at whatever stage you may be at.
The returner and restart session will enable you to talk to people who can support and enable you to access a career in tech.
Join TechSwitch and She Chats Tech on the 24th October for an in-person interactive Q&A session and networking social to connect with more women in tech and explore your own route into tech.
The interactive Q&A will introduce you to:
You will have the opportunity to ask the all questions you've been wanting answered around getting into tech, navigating the early stages of your tech career, and how to embrace your non-tech story!
TechSwitch and Softwire Manchester are teaming up to host an exciting event, bringing together experts to explore how career switching can help to close the skills gap.
Women in their 40s-50s are the fastest-growing cohort in UK workplaces, but nearly 50% of women say their menopause symptoms have had a negative impact on their work. Furthermore, 1 in 3 women will consider reducing their hours or leaving work altogether because of perimenopausal & menopausal symptoms
While menopause affects each woman differently, it is true that many women experience symptoms that can have an impact on their work. Understanding and addressing the challenges posed by menopause in the workplace can contribute to a more inclusive and supportive environment for women experiencing this life transition.
Our co-founder, Sasha Burgoyne, joined SheCanCode's Spilling the T podcast to share how TechSwitch is supporting our female learners and employees who are experiencing menopause symptoms and reveals how and why we are partnering with Period & Pause.
